In memory of Late Mr. Dewang Mehta, The Dewang Mehta Foundation has taken various initiatives to acknowledge the students in the IT sector. The Dewang Mehta Excellence Award is one such initiative where students with excellent academic performance are recognized. For past 7 years DMFT has felicitated students from Gujarat, Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Indore, Ratanagiri, Kolhapur, etc.

To recognize the achievement, success and celebrate it, DMFT rather than experimenting with conventional methods of inviting nominations and to restrict the event just as another award ceremony, decided to turn the brief around and do a “first of its kind” event – and test the concept that was not tried before.

The award ceremony is clubbed with Dewang Mehta memorial lecture and felicitation of top ranked students from the Engineering colleges.

It provides a perfect platform for the graduating student members to explore the avenues for developing their professional as well as technical skills and interact with top professionals. This gives them an orientation towards the requirement of industry and guides them to path of their ambition. To reach the unreached and target the right people, it becomes important to involve educational institutes, universities, industry and Government for achieving the pre-defined objectives and to scale up the activities.

The bottom line is to conceptualize the competition which stimulates the students.
For last 7 years DMFT has been having IT awards in partnership with GTU in Gujarat. Each year three student teams are awarded with cash prize for best projects.

Some of our past guest lectures have been delivered by industry stalwarts like, Shri Bhaskar Pramanik, Ex Chairman of Microsoft India, Dr B V R Mohan Reddy, founder Infotech Enterprises Limited, Shri C P Gurnani, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Tech Mahindra, Dr. D.B. Phatak, an Indian computer scientist and academic, and a recipient of the Padma Shri Award Dr. Ashank Desai, Founder and Former Chairman of Mastek Ltd Shri. Vijay Mhaskar COO, Quick Heal Technologies.
